Thalassemia Patients Friends Committee, head of the Saudi delegation, praised the efforts of the Emirates Thalassemia Society in terms of its awareness programs in the community to limit the spread of the disease, as well as the services it provides. Equipment for patients, and stated that the Society of Genetic Blood Diseases in Al-Ahsa Governorate was licensed recently, and the Thalassemia Patients Friends Committee was formed, which is a committee concerned with the health, psychological and social affairs of Thalassemia patients. To exchange experiences, especially since our society is similar in environment, customs and traditions and is similar even in the types of diseases and their prevalence rates, and also what we have seen of the great interest of the Emirates Thalassemia Society in this segment of patients and the success they have achieved in integrating the Thalassemia patient into society and also because the Society has won many awards for its distinction and being recognized It is globally recognized as a role model in this field by the World Thalassemia Association, which is also a voting member, and this visit was to exchange experiences, as in Al-Ahsa Governorate in the Eastern Province there are approximately one hundred patients and the percentage of carriers of thalassemia Alema and sickle cell anemia range from 25 to 30%. For this reason, a special section for thalassemia has recently been opened at the Center for Genetic Blood Diseases. It takes care of thalassemia patients and also in the preventive aspect, where the center tries through the counseling clinic for pre-marital examination to reduce the size of the number of infected births by activating the clinic to the fullest extent as it is It has a qualified team of social workers, psychologists and doctors to raise awareness of those who are going to get married. The center pays great attention to the preventive aspect because it is one of the goals of the Thalassemia Patients Friends Committee that no child with thalassemia will be born by the year 2016. At the end of the visit, an official invitation was sent by the Saudi delegation to the members of the Board of Directors The Emirates Thalassemia Society to visit the Kingdom and to activate a joint workshop between the two countries that contributes to developing a plan for the launch of the   Thalassemia and Sickle-cell anemia Society in the Kingdom, The delegation was also honored, where His Excellency Mr. Abdul Basit Merdas, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, handed over the shield of the Society to Dr. Hoda Abdul Rahman Al-Mansour..
