In the auspicious presence of H H Sheikh Khalifa Bin Sultan Bin Khalifa Bin Zayed on the auspicious occasion of 'Zayed Humanitarian Day' which falls every year on 19 Ramadan in the Holy Month, and continuing to mark the 'Year of Zayed', a Grand Iftar was organized for the UAE Thalassemia patients in Fairmont Hotel Fujeirah by Sultan Bin Khalifa Scientific and Humanitarian Foundation in collaboration with Emirates Thalassemia Society.

H H Sheikh Khalifa Bin Sultan joined the patients for Iftar and all the attendees experienced the true spirit of the Holy month and marked the Zayed Humanitarian Day. To take the opportunity of this lovely gathering, a Memorandum Of Understanding was also signed between the Emirates Thalassemia Society and Sultan Bin Khalifa Scientefic and Humanitarian Foundation. The patients and their parents were also briefed about the Bone Marrow Transplant opportunities and some of the former patients also shared their experiences about the BMT.

In conclusion, the patients, their families, Board Members of the Emirates Thalassemia Society and member of the royal family all had a memorable iftar like a whole big single family. This signified the teachings of the late Sheikh Zayed who strongly believed that voluntary work kept all the members of the society happy and in togetherness.
